    Event Status Update

    Hello everyone -
     
    The safety of our participants, volunteers, spectators and staff is at the forefront of our planning for the Zilker Relays.
     
    As we prepare for Sep 10th, we are committed to following the guidance of public health officials and the requirements of our community and government partners, as well as our own precautions to limit lines and crowds.
     
    We look forward to welcoming you back to in person racing and will also rely on your cooperation and common sense to help create an experience that is safe and enjoyable for all.

    Packets are to be picked up by one member of each team on race day.

    Please wear your mask and maintain proper social distancing etiquette.
    Race Day Packet Pickup will begin at 4:00PM at Zilker Park on Sep 10th and end at 6:25 PM.
     
    LIMITED TO FIRST 1200 RUNNERS - No Exceptions. We want to keep our event manageable and focused on the running and fitness community, so we are limiting registration.

    We are reviewing plans for our after-party. We will continue to consult with the COA and Parks Department, along with local health officials as to the best way to host the race and maintain the health and safety of all involved.

    Like your favorite mix-tape, Type A's set list is filled with your favorite party anthems of the 90s and 2000s; including artists like: Maroon 5, Weezer, Sublime, Jimmy Eat World, Blink-182, Third Eye Blind, and so many more!!A body paragraph.

    Food will once again be provided for all runners by our Founding Partners from Tacodeli.

  • COURSE MAP

    We have a great spectator-friendly course, allowing us to put on a socially distanced post-race party on the grass under the shade of the park's beautiful Oaks.

    2021 Course

    The 2.5 mile course starts and finishes on the north side of Zilker Park (about 200 meters east of the volleyball courts). The post-race party is conveniently located right next to the finish line where trees, the Zilker lawn and team tents create a festive atmosphere.

    Don't worry! We have an event for kids 12 and under.
    All legs are approximately 250 meters.

  • Beneficiary

    We are committed to building a healthy, fit community. We think working to help keep kids active and healthy is cool and we want to do what we can to help get them off to a great start in life. We look for beneficiaries with the same interests in mind when we form our partnerships. Through our great partnership with Balega, we have a special connection with the Lesedi Foundation and their work with the Ethembeni school to help children with special needs in South Africa.

    Who Should Participate

    Anyone who wants to combine a fun run around Zilker park with great friends, Tacodeli and live music.

    Covid-19 POLICY

    We ask that you only attend if you are vaccinated. We are taking enhanced health and safety measures for you, our sponsors, volunteers and staff members. You must follow all posted instructions while attending the Zilker Relays. If you plan to run or attend, we request that you wear a mask when not running.

     

    An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public space where people are present. By attending the Zilker Relays, you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.

     

    We will require that any paid staff be vaccinated prior to the event and request that all volunteers are as well. We will also send anyone home that has Covid-19 symptoms, or is diagnosed positive on event day.

    Can children participate in the Zilker Relays?

    Definitely, if they can make it 2.5 miles on their own. If they're not quite ready for a full relay, we have a Kid's Relay for children 12 and younger...sign up for the Zilker Kids Relay...teams of 4 kids each run a much abbreviated course of ~250 meters.

    What is included for my registration?

    We provide chip timing, an awesome Zilker Relays T-shirt,  Tacodeli dinner and a bottle of Nuun at the finish line for all race participants.
     
    Free beer is for anyone of legal drinking age with a valid ID and is NOT a condition of your race entry.
     
    We also have a concert in the park after the relay, so bring your blankets and lawn chairs and prepare for some fun live music with Type A !

    Can family and friends hang out and support me?

    Social Distancing will be encouraged and the after-party will be reviewed and isn't guaranteed for 2021.

     

    Are the Zilker Relays associated with a charity?

    Definitely. We are partnering with The Lesedi Project. We believe in getting kids excited about outdoor activities and building great communities. 

    Do I need to buy a meal ticket if I'm on a team?

    No. Your race entry gets you full access to the race, the dinner, the band and all other race amenities. Beer is not part of the race amenities, and is available for anyone of legal drinking age possessing a valid ID.

    Do I need to find all 4 of my teammates?

    Yes. All captains are responsible for finding and filling their teams

    Are the Zilker Relays a timed event?

    Yes. All runners are chip timed.

    REFUND POLICY

    The Zilker Relays has a NO REFUND policy. ENTRY FEES AND DONATIONS ARE NOT REFUNDABLE for any reason. This policy applies regardless of whether you become injured, have an unexpected business/family emergency, pregnancy, travel issues, weather cancellation, etc. There are NO exceptions. Any inquiry regarding this policy will be directed back to this statement.
